What is a chemical reaction?
A process in which reactants transform into products with different properties
What is a balanced chemical equation?
An equation where the number of atoms of each element is equal on both sides
State the Law of Conservation of Mass.
In a chemical reaction mass is neither created nor destroyed — total mass of reactants equals products
What is a combination reaction?
Two or more substances combine to form a single product. e.g. CaO + H₂O → Ca(OH)₂
What is a decomposition reaction?
A single compound breaks into two or more simpler substances. e.g. 2H₂O → 2H₂ + O₂
