The branch of chemistry dealing with carbon compounds, especially those containing C-H bonds

-OH (hydroxyl group). e.g. CH₃OH (methanol), C₂H₅OH (ethanol)

-CHO (aldehyde group). e.g. HCHO (formaldehyde), CH₃CHO (acetaldehyde)
